Hello All!

I guess you all have noticed the USD/EUR exchange rate. Currently the
5-day average is about 1.26. This is just 0.08 greater than the 1.18
rate when the Euro was introduced (not adopted) on 1/4/99.

But a lot higher than than the $0.86 it fell to at one time.

The pound is also lower against the dollar than it was when I
first visited the UK in 1996.

And the Swedish Krona returns almost 30% more for a dollar than back in
June when I went to Stockholm.

But it took a global financial meltdown for the dollar to strengthen
against most other currencies.

Exchange rate may be better but people may be too broke to travel.

I suspect that the drop in the Euro may be because people are too

broke to buy all those expensive imported cars and boats. If they don't
buy European imports, they don't need Euros to pay for them, so the
demand for Euros drops, but that's just my theory.

No it's because the dollar and really the US treasury debt are
considered safe havens.

As bad as the US economy is, Europe's economy looks worse.
