may have to run down there and investigate.

Makes it a freeway, yes. But not necessarily I-565. I-565 explicity
ends (signposted and everything) before you get to that next at-grade
intersection (which, BTW, doesn't have a traffic signal).

LOL, I said I couldn't remember, so feel free to check away! ;-)

Come up here to Kentucky and check out Somerset and head on up to Pikeville to
see the new road.

H.B. who was close to Virginia and West Virginia last week but stayed in
Kentucky, and will probably not stray too far from home until the Michigan meet
in December unless it snows and I don't attempt the trip

Duluth! Isn't there a traffic signal somewhere in the mix of the 35/535 interchange?

There is, but it isn't for any of the movements between 35 and 535.
The one signal there is where the NB I-35-to-NB US 53 movement crosses
SB US 53.

I-565 AL

I-565 used to, but not anymore. The former signal at its east end was

I-110 LA

Sandor's already replied about I-110.

Froggie | Alexandria, VA | http://www.ajfroggie.com/roads/

And to be further accurate about I-110, only the ramp from I-110 north
to US 61 (Scenic Highway) is at grade and ends in a traffic light. The
other movements are directional to semi-directional. There is a
signalized intersecton with Blount Rd. located just north of the
interchange...but I guess that doesn't quite count.

I meant to say Scenic Hwy. southbound. Northbound is still a free-flow
ramp.

How many "conventional" signals are in use on the interstate system?

However many there are on I-180 in Wyoming, near any major tunnel, at
any drawbridge, plus those on I-78 in Jersey.
There is a set on I-690 in New York by the entrance to a main parking lot at
the State Fairgrounds.

I-35 ends at a traffic-signaled intersection in Duluth, MN.

Duluth! Isn't there a traffic signal somewhere in the mix of the 35/535 interchange?

BTW, I think there are 6 traffic signals along Wyoming I-180, including the two at the I-80 interchange.

Off the top of my head, the following interstates end at traffic signals:

I-359 AL
I-565 AL
I-110 LA
I-579 PA
I-185 SC

...and I'm sure there are many others.

-Billy

I-290 IL ends at a drawbridge or just before it.

I-290 ends at the Circle interchange (I-90/94) in Chicago. East of that, it
is simply the 'Congress Extension', a non-interstate freeway.

There is also a drawbridge on the Ohio-Ontario Feeder off of the Kennedy
Expressway (I-90/94), another non-interstate freeway.

That drawbridge is so rickety that the state dares not open it. Some
kind of state police rolling blockade would be needed to slow traffic
down to the edge of the bridge.

This one is higher than other bridges and little traffic (sailboats)
goes up this branch.
