Here, Allan H Reid believes that paper distribution is a problem on
the island of Paxos. But his indifference to learn Greek is not a
problem. Did the Athens News Editor indicate to him that learning the
language of the country he chose to live in is in his best interest?
No. The multi-culturalist lowlife basically agreed with him that the
problem is with Paxos. Time for the leftist anti-Greek rag to go!

"No newspapers

I HAVE been a regular reader of your newspaper for many years.
Speaking very little Greek (not a language person), I find it
invaluable in informing me on what is happening in the country that I
chose to live in.

There is, however, a major distribution problem: there is not a single
newspaper of any kind available on the island of Paxos via a shop,
until the small kiosk in the main village of Gaios begins to stock
them again in May 2009. Not even Greek newspapers for the local
population are available.

Our only source of newspapers is people going to Corfu for the day,
where all newspapers are easily available, or those on the daily
hydrofoil, who can bring a paper back; there is also an English couple
here who take orders plus prepayment for UK weekend papers only -
including the Athens News - which come by a sea taxi every Monday from
a supplier in Corfu town (consequently, we have no TV guide for the
weekend).

Various shops on the island have tried to supply newspapers but all
stopped after a short while due to "problems", ie collection from
port, returns to suppliers, profits too small, theft on the ferry.

The mayor of Paxos has been approached about this situation but no
solution has been found.

Alan H Reid

Editor responds: As you indicate in your letter, this issue affects
all press publications, Greek-language and other. We have been aware
of this problem for a considerable time and sympathise with our
readers on Paxos. We are doing our best to find a solution."

He can order any paper in any language he wants to Paxos.
It will come by post.
I was once a subscriber to:
National Geographic
MAD
Playboy ( US ) edition
Delivered by the post ( not on Paxos )

They can come by post but must be ordered individually.

The see taxi could supply all other papers too.

If they can get post they should be able to get papers too.
Theft? Let the police deal with the problem.

The real problem might be that people who want to read papers sometimes
buy them and other times not from the shop. So for any shop that makes
small quantity orders and perhaps on average sells less then half of
it's papers it's a minus.

By the way: About half of Greece leans more to the left and about half
of the Greek population more to the right. Don't drive a wedge between
people and families. My grandfather was right and my uncle left.
I vote empty.
